Following the youngest sister's unexpected suicide attempt, the girls become the obsession of a group of neighborhood boys who watch them from afar, trying to decode their world.
As the parents' restrictions tighten into a virtual imprisonment, the sisters find ways to communicate with the boys through music and secret notes. The film is a haunting, dreamlike meditation on adolescence, memory, and the loss of innocence, narrated by the boys years later as they struggle to understand the tragedy that defined their youth.
